Our Purpose
About Us
What we do
- Provide direct advice and support to community organisation
- Stimulate community action, particularly voluntary action, and encourage good practice
- Develop and manage demonstration projects
- Provide professional support and advice to key service providers
- Raise awareness of rural issues and influence decision makers
Action with Communities in Rural Kent (previously known as Kent Rural Community Council) is an independent voluntary organisation (Registered Charity No. 212796).
Membership is open to any organisation, community group or individual who supports our purpose. Benefits of membership include our monthly newsletter, "Rural News" and our periodical, "Oast to Coast" for news and information on rural issues, as well as invitations to participate in seminars, events and conferences at reduced rates, also one-to-one advice.

How we are organised
The Council
The Council comprises of;
Officers:
- The President
- Vice-Presidents
- Chairman
- Vice-Chairmen
- Auditors
Representative Members:
- Kent County Council (3 reps)
- Medway Council (2 reps)
- Each District Council (2 reps)
- Kent Association of Parish Councils
Ex Officio Members:
- County Economic Development Officer
- County Library & Community Services Officer
- County Director of Strategic Planning
Co-opted Members:
Subscribing Members:

The Council meets at least once a year at the AGM, but in practice there are several meetings each year.
Management Committee
The Management Committee comprises of;
- Chairman and up to two Vice-Chairmen - elected by The Council

One representative appointed by each Special or Standing Committee of The Council
- One representative of Kent County Council
- One representative appointed by the District Councils.
- One representative appointed by Medway Council.
- One representative appointed by Kent Association of Parish Councils.
- Up to six representatives elected from the subscribing membership
- Up to two co-optees.
